Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also sings. She received the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and also the first female recipient. Alongside the nine Grammy awards, she was also the first musician of Indian origin to be a presenter and performer in the live ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling to London as well as New Delhi. Her first performance took place on stage in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. In 1999, she completed her high school education in Encinitas CA. The career of Anouskha as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she went to high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration, Anoushka made her debut playing the sitar in front of an audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka was a part of her father throughout his global tour, gained an incredible quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she appeared at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and even recorded with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent have been acknowledged by the British Parliament as being among the top of the best in Asian Arts.
