Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great popularity with her stories she recounts about her early heartbreak. Swift developed an interest for musical instruments as a young person and soon progressed from performing in kids' shows, before making her first appearance public. At the age of 11, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and the following year she began playing guitar and began to write songs. Swift became inspired to write her own material by artists from the country category, like Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. When she was 13 Swift's parents sold their property in Pennsylvania in order to relocate towards Hendersonville Tennessee so she could dedicate more time to wooing labels from the country within the vicinity of Nashville.
